Over the course of the year, first grade students at Wells Village School have been reading various poems. They discuss the meaning of the poem, and then get a chance to illustrate it in order to show their understanding of the poem. The goal of these projects is to create a book of the poems, an anthology, that the students will then be able to take home with them at the end of the school year. This way, they can practice their reading over the summer! Yesterday, the students read “Clouds” together as a group. Then, they set off to work on illustrating the poem. Some students worked at their desk, some chose to use trays, and were discussing their illustrations with their classmates. What a great project that will help the students in the long run! Great work!
